Wedding Hair Extensions in London: A Complete Planning Guide
By Cornelia · 14 May 2026
Wedding hair extensions are one of the most popular things we fit. Here's how to plan it properly — from the bride to the bridesmaids.
For the bride
For keratin bonds: book 4–6 weeks before the wedding. This gives you time to wash and style them at a trial, then have a touch-up if needed.
For tape-ins: book 1–2 weeks before. Tape-ins are faster to fit, easier to refresh, and you can have a trial the month before with a partial set to confirm colour.
For bridesmaids
Tape-ins are ideal for bridesmaids — fast to fit, easy to remove after the wedding, and the same hair can be reused if more bridesmaids need fitting.
Choosing length and volume
Don't go longer than 4 inches above your natural hair for the most natural finish. For volume-only, half-head is usually enough. For a major length change, full head is needed.
Wedding trial timing
Book a hair trial with your wedding stylist 4–6 weeks before the wedding. They'll test your extensions with the veil, hair accessories, and your chosen style. If you don't have extensions yet, book your fitting 2 weeks before the trial.
On the day
Your extensions should feel like your own hair by the wedding. Don't let a stylist put additional products on them — they should work with what you've got. Avoid heavy hairspray on bonds or tape panels.
Removing extensions after the wedding
Most brides remove within 1–2 weeks of the wedding. Tape-ins are quick (45 minutes), keratin bonds take longer (1–2 hours for removal).
